Carrick Mind has been funded by NHS Kernow Clinical Commissioning Group for a number of years to offer a One to One and Group Befriending service.
All NHS small contracts are currently under review and following this review the NHS Kernow Commsioning Priorities Group will be recommending to the Governing Body meeting in early October that the Befriending services are “disinvested” from March 2017. This means that we will no longer have a contract to deliver the Befriending service to those vulnerable people struggling with various mental health difficulties.
This is obviously going to have a profound impact on the clients who use the service, Carrick Mind as an organisation and also put pressures on other services such a GPs, Community Mental Health Teams as these vulnerable people seek support from somewhere.
Carrick Mind is currently doing all we can to try and plan a way forward so that we can continuing offering support to those people experiencing mental health difficulties.
