Ombudsman report highlights failings in mental health services

A report published by the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombusman highlights failings in mental health services in England.

In response, Sophie Corlett, Director of External Relations at Mind, said:

“At the time of these complaints, cuts to funding and rising demand, off the back of decades of neglect and under-resourcing, meant NHS mental health services were under huge amounts of pressure. It is shocking but unsurprising to hear of so many times where services failed to provide even the basics in terms of offering the right treatment, operating safely or treating people with dignity and respect.

“Mental health services are still under enormous strain, but we are part way through a five-year plan to start making improvements. These cases prove why it is so essential that this plan is delivered and that money promised reaches the frontline.”
