Newquay Art Group

Newquay Rap (Recovery Action Plan) Art Group – a 16 week programme. Research suggests that arts and creative group activities may help with mental health problems, they can boost self-esteem, help express thoughts and feelings, and provide social interaction. Being creative can provide a welcome distraction from life’s stresses, helping to reduce the symptoms of anxiety and depression. We offer a recovery focused art group which is held every fortnight and aimed at inspiring everyone who joins to discover or rediscover the benefits to wellbeing that being creative together brings. Based around the Five Ways to Wellbeing, you’ll be supported in learning many different art techniques using a variety of mixed media and will hopefully be inspired to incorporate art into your everyday life. Together, we’ll develop a personalised Recovery Action Plan to help you think about getting and staying well. It maybe that you’re already an accomplished artist or that you have little, if any, confidence in your artistic abilities. It doesn’t matter – all that’s required is a willingness to have a go and be prepared to have some fun along the way. The group is small, friendly and informal, and provides social contact, opportunities for friendship, and access to peer and professional support. What do I need? For the first session, please bring an A4 sketchbook and book of palette paper. When? Tuesdays 10-12 noon, every fortnight.

How do I sign up?

It’s easy – just complete our Referral Form.

“Sitting down and creating, together with relaxing, helps to stop the worries that go on in my mind for a couple of hours. The practice of painting has increased my knowledge, confidence and expertise of art itself.”
