You’re not alone.
We’re your local mental health charity and we’re here to help.
Our aim is to help people in our local communities to improve their mental health and wellbeing.
We want everyone to live their best life possible. We do this by providing a range of services that focus on recovery and empower people to take control of their own wellbeing.
Cornwall Mind (formerly Carrick and Restormel Mind) was formed in 2019 but both Carrick and Restormel Mind have been supporting local people for many years.
With over one in four people experiencing a mental health problem in Cornwall, the need for good quality mental health support, advice and information is vital.
We won’t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets both support and respect.
We endeavour to prevent those who are vulnerable from developing mental health issues.
We provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem.
We campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding of mental health. We work throughout Cornwall.
Staying well: Support people likely to develop mental health problems, to stay well.
Empowering choice: Empower people who experience a mental health problem to make informed choices about how they live and recover.
Improving services and support: Ensure people get the right services and support at the right time to help their recovery and enable them to live with their mental health problem.
Enabling social participation: Open the doors to people with experience of mental health problems participating fully in society.
Removing inequality of opportunity: Gain equality of treatment for people who experience both mental health and other forms of discrimination.
Organisational excellence: Make the most of our assets by building a culture of excellence.
We’re excited to be working with an inspiring strategy that outlines our aims to help improve mental health in Cornwall.
Building upon both national and regional strategic objectives, we aim to:

Cornwall Mind has been awarded the Mind Quality Mark (MQM). It sets the bar of good practice and legal compliance for all organisations in the Mind Federation.
Local Minds are reviewed against the Mind Quality Mark standards every three years. The reviews are led by people with lived experience of mental health problems and senior leaders from other local Minds. They are based on a robust assessment of documentary evidence as well as interviews with and survey responses from trustees, staff, volunteers, and people who use services.
To achieve the Mind Quality Mark, local Minds must be well-run organisations delivering safe, life-changing support for people with mental health problems.
We are proud to be part of the Mind Federation of around 100 Local Minds, which provide mental health services across England and Wales.
Even though we are part of this network, Cornwall Mind is an independently registered and funded charity, relying on fundraising and donations to help support our work.
All our services are built with the people of Cornwall in mind. This means we can tailor our services to the needs of our county.
