Mental Health Recovery Coach

Location: Bodmin/Outreach Across Cornwall

Salary: £28,172 per year FTE pro rata £16,903

Hours of Work: 22.5 PW (3 days)

About the role

A Recovery Coach role is based on the recognition that there is no better person to support the path towards recovery than someone who has walked the same path and overcome some of the barriers to recovery.

The Mental Health Recovery Coach provides structured peer support and practical assistance to service users, empowering them to regain control of their lives and shape their own recovery journey.

Working collaboratively, the coach supports individuals at each stage of their recovery, offering guidance as they take initial steps toward greater independence and wellbeing. This may include engaging in recovery-focused activities, exploring volunteering opportunities, and building connections within their local community.

The Mental Health Recovery Coach will be based within Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) organisations while working integrally as part of teams within Cornwall Partnership Foundation Trust (CPFT), in close collaboration with a range of partner agencies.

Mental health recovery coach workers engage with service users to show empathy, share experience, inspire hope and promote recovery with the aim of assisting service users to gain and maintain independence in the community.

The mental health recovery coach will assist service users in raising aspirations and developing personal goals.

The Mental Health Recovery Coach role is specifically designed for individuals with lived experience of mental health challenges. By drawing on and sharing insights from their own journeys, they inspire hope, foster connection, and demonstrate that recovery is both possible and achievable for others.
