Cornwall Speak Their Name Suicide Memorial Quilt

The Speak Their Name initiative started in Manchester during lockdown when a group of people bereaved by suicide came together online to create a quilt in tribute to those they had lost.

A beautiful quilt has been created by those bereaved by suicide in Cornwall. It is part of the Speak Their Name Suicide Memorial Quilt initiative and proudly supported by Cornwall Mind.

Cornwall’s quilt is currently being displayed in the Upper Waiting Hall of the Houses of Parliament, Westminster, alongside the other Speak Their Name quilts for World Mental Health Day and extends until the 17th October 2025.

The creators of these quilt squares have bravely shared their grief, aiming to start conversations and raise awareness that it’s okay to talk about suicide.

Their focus is to break down the stigma of suicide and reduce the isolation felt by those bereaved in this way.
