World Mental Health Day 2021

Join us in jumping for mental health in the South West!

For World Mental Health Day this year, we’re joining forces with our amazing colleagues at Devon Mind and Mind in Somerset to jump for mental health awareness across the South West, and you can join us!

On Sunday 10th October 2021, select staff from each charity will be taking part in a 15,000 foot tandem skydive at Dunkeswell Airfield in Honiton, East Devon — not far south of the Somerset border. We’ll be raising money for our respective organisations and helping to increase the awareness of mental health across the South West by engaging with supporters, friends, and family members.

Mental health in the South West

According to latest figures, the prevalence of common mental disorders (such as depression, anxiety and phobias) in the South West of England is one of the highest in the country.

Factors such as isolation, lack of access to support services, and reduced employment prospects, can often lead to mental health problems for young people and adults, especially in rural areas.

As independent local charities, Cornwall Mind, Devon Mind, and Mind in Somerset, work hard to support the people of the South West who need help with their mental health, as well as campaigning to increase the awareness and understanding of mental health and wellbeing across the large area.

How can I get involved?

Joining our World Mental Health Day skydive is super easy. All you need to do is book your jump on the Skydive Buzz website, then create your fundraising page to aid the fight for better mental health in the South West!
