Wild West Weekender 3-4 October 2026

Two wheels, one weekend challenge and LOTS of fun!

Saddle up and get pedalling for a special cycling adventure through the stunning scenery of West Cornwall, all whilst raising vital funds for Cornwall Mind.

Held over two days on October 3-4th, the Wild West Weekender will cover 70km a day (about 43 miles) and promises an unforgettable cycling experience. Expect quiet lanes, gravel tracks, off-road riding, beautiful views, sea swims and great camaraderie. You’ll also be making the most of the great outdoors before the clocks change!

Starting and ending in Penzance, the ride has been organised by our amazing Cornwall Mind ambassador, Katy Roberts, from Saddle to Sea and Jon Butt of the Penzance Wheelers.

Why take part?

In 2024, Katy cycled 3,500 miles around the coast of Britain to raise awareness of mental health and suicide prevention.

I lost my Dad to suicide when I was 16 and I didn’t know how to cope – swimming in the sea, cycling, being outside and finding a community helped me and still does. I want this event to encompass all of these things, I want people to be outside all weekend, meet new people, challenge themselves, while having the best time!

I first became aware of Katy during her 2024 ride around the country. Katy then joined in a couple of events I was running – during one of these events we started talking about a collaboration, combining Katy’s drive and passion with the experience I had in running cycling events… The routes we are using showcases the stunning landscape of West Cornwall while tracing the region’s historical evolution, from ancient Neolithic sites to its mining heritage and beyond.
